KANSAS CITY--The Truman Baseball Team closed out their series at Rockhurst Sunday afternoon, and fell 11-2 to the Hawks. Jordan Marlott took the loss for Truman to fall to 0-4 on the season while Joe Rost improved to 1-2 with the win for Rockhurst.
After a scoreless first inning, Rockhurst struck for two runs in the bottom of the second. In the top of the third inning, Brendan Kelly got a one out single through the right side and Justin Dietiker followed with a double down the left field line to put runners on first and second for Kevin Donohue. He hit a sac fly to center field which brought Kelly home. Dietiker moved up to third, but could not come the extra 90 feet to tie the game; leaving it at 2-1.
From there, Rockhurst scored eight unanswered runs to make it 10-1. In the top of the seventh, Truman got one back as Will Fromm got a one out single, then Evan Kayser walked to move Fromm to second. Jake Schneider was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Fromm came in on a wild pitch. It was 10-2, but Rockhurst added one more to make it 11-2.
The Bulldogs will play their final series of the year next week as they take on Missouri S&T starting on Friday at 3 p.m.
