Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Bulldogs Fall to Panthers on Second Half Goal

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman soccer team took the pitch Sunday afternoon at Bulldog Soccer Park, kicking off GLVC play against Drury. It was a hard fought game for both teams, but the difference in the 1-0 game was an own goal for Truman in the second half. In the 54th minute, while trying to play it back to the goalie, a Truman defender got too much of the ball and it went into the back of the Truman net.

In the first half, Truman keeper Evan Witte made three saves. He stopped efforts from Adem Hamdaoua, Jayd Hamdaoua, and Joshua Lewis-Evans. Andy Brennan had a solid chance to score but his shot went just high and over the crossbar. Mitchell Kidd had the best opportunity to score for the Bulldogs, but in the 42nd minute his effort went off the right post and out. Sam Newton had an opportunity on the set piece, but it went just to the right of the cage.

Early in the second half, Newton and Adam Shine led the pressure for the Bulldogs who looked primed to break the 0-0 score line. But their efforts were both just wide. Then the Truman miscue put Drury on the scoreboard. Newton had the last shot for Truman but it went off the side of the goal and out which kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard.

Witte made five saves today, his best mark of the season so far.

Truman will be back in action this Friday as they host Maryville at noon at Bulldog Soccer Park.
