Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Goal Sinks Bulldogs at Missouri S&T

ROLLA, Mo.—The Truman Men's Soccer team came within a minute of picking up their first points of the 2021 fall campaign, but Missouri S&T's Julien Denis put the ball low and to the right past Truman's Justin Olwig for the only goal of the game with just 28 seconds left on the clock. Olwig, in his second career start, made four saves.

Luke Payne registered the first shot on goal for either team in this game, a low right effort that was saved by Michael Sallee. Less than a minute late Thomas Weber tested Salle again with a low, center shot but once again the Miner keeper was up to the challenge. Max Sengl and Simo Valentino had shots on goal nearly back to back in the 32nd minute, just 11 seconds apart. But once again the Miner keeper kept the ball out of his net. Truman managed seven shots on the half with four on goal.

In the second half, Sam Newton tested Sallee with a low right shot but once again it was kept out. The second half was more balanced than the first was, with both teams recording six shots and the Miners had two on goal to one for the Bulldogs.

During the first overtime session, both teams registered one shot with neither being on goal. In the second overtime, S&T had two shots to Truman's one. Aidan Morgan had the lone shot for Truman, which went wide left. Olwig made a stop on a low center shot by Cade Johnstone in the 107th minute but S&T managed to get on the scoreboard as the clock was ticking down to send Truman away empty handed.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday as they continue their road swing—heading to Missouri St. Louis for a 7:30 PM kickoff.
