Miners Top Bulldogs in Friday Opener

ROLLA, Mo.—The Truman Baseball team headed back on the road Friday as they opened their GLVC slate against Missouri S&T. The Bulldogs got on the board first but the Miners scored ten runs in the 7th and 8th to win the game 14-4. Dylan Mollett (3-0) won the game for S&T while Zachry Schneider (3-3) took the loss.

In the top of the second, Will Fromm led off with a walk and then Dakota Spicer followed with a single through the left side which allowed Fromm to scamper on to third. Dylan Thompson struck out, but a pass ball allowed from to come in to score.

The Miners took the lead on a two run homer in the bottom of the second, and scored the next four runs. Truman got back on the board in the top of the seventh as Fromm and Spicer led off with back to back singles, and moved to third and second on a wild pitch. Thompson drove Fromm in on a sac fly to make it 4-2. After two straight walks, the bases were loaded for Tal Dean. He hit another sac fly to make it 4-3.

In the bottom of the seventh S&T struck for four runs to make it 8-3. In the top of the eighth Holden Missey led off with a single and then he was later driven in by Thompson to make it 8-4. The Miners scored the last six to finish the game.

The series will resume tomorrow at noon with a doubleheader.
