EVANSVILLE, Ind.—The Truman Baseball team resumed their third game of the series against Southern Indiana Saturday, and finished out the game for an 11-10 win. Michael Daggett (2-7) picked up his second win of the season while Holden Missey got his fifth save, and Sammy Barnett (2-2) took the loss. In the last game of the series USI won 16-4, with Garrett Welch (2-3) got the win and Alex Leary (3-5) took the loss.
Game One
This game resumed in the top of the sixth today. Here is how the whole game went:
The Bulldogs got on the board first in the top of the second with Missey hitting a homer to center field to start the inning. Fromm followed with a double, and Thompson with a one out double to put two runners in scoring position. Smith flied out to bring Fromm in and make it 2-0 and Tal Dean singled up the middle to bring in Thompson and make it 3-0.
Missey homered again in the third inning to make it 5-0 Bulldogs. USI got one back in the bottom of the frame to make it 5-1. In the top of the fifth, Missey walked with one out and Fromm singled to put two on. Thompson hit a two out double to left to bring two runs in. Smith then doubled to right and Thompson came in to make it 8-1. In the top of the sixth, Luke Turner walked with one out, Missey singled through the left side with two outs and Fromm drove Turner in with a single to right. Spicer reached on an error to bring Missey in to make it 10-1 and Thompson reached on an error to bring Fromm in to score.
Saturday Truman took bat in the top of the sixth with an 11-1 lead. A nine run bottom of the sixth made it a close game, but in the seventh the Bulldogs were able to finish off the game and get the win.
Game Two
USI scored the first seven runs of the game. In the top of the third Simon Murray walked and then with two outs Brennan Perkins drove one deep to left and make it a 7-2 game. Then in the bottom of the frame USI got five more to make it a 12-2 game. Fromm led off the top of the fourth with a solo shot to make it a 12-3 game.
In the top of the seventh Truman got on the board again as Dean opened with a walk, then Perkins singled to right center. Dean moved to third, then Missey grounded out and Dean came in to score. It was 12-4 and USI scored the last four of the game to finish the game and split the series.
The Bulldogs will be back in Kirksville next weekend as they open a four game set with Quincy Friday.
