Bulldogs Drop Series Finale to Quincy

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Baseball team finished its series with Quincy Sunday, the Hawks taking the final game 9-3. Alex Leary (3-6) took the loss for the Bulldogs while Michael McDonough (2-1) got the win for the Hawks.

Leary had a three up, three down top of the first inning and in the bottom of the frame Tal Dean led off with a single to left, moved to second on a sac bunt by Luke Turner and then came in on a double by Brennan Perkins.

After the Hawks tied it up in the top of the second, Truman once again looked poised to go ahead in the bottom of the inning as Dakota Spicer led off with a double and Dylan Thompson followed with a double, but Spicer was thrown out at the plate. Thompson moved to third on a wild pitch but was stranded 90 feet from home.

Quincy struck for two in the top of the third and four in the top of the fourth to make it a 7-1 game, then tacked on one more in the top of the sixth. The Bulldogs got back on the board in the bottom of the sixth as Holden Missey got a one out double then came in to score on a throwing error by the shortstop to make it 8-2.

In the bottom of the seventh Dean got a one out double, then advanced to third on a balk then came in on a groundout to make it 8-3. Quincy scored one run in the top of the ninth to close the scoring.

The Bulldogs will be back in action this coming Tuesday at William Jewell for a single game at 3:00, then will be at home next weekend as they host Lewis for a four game set; starting Friday afternoon.
