LIBERTY, Mo.—Two solo home runs by the Bulldogs, one from Jack Owens and one from Luke Turner, were not enough to get the win Tuesday as Truman fell 8-2 at William Jewell. Jordan Marlott (2-1) took the loss for the Bulldogs, while Levi Ebersoldt (2-2) got the win.
In the bottom of the first WJC got on the board first with a two RBI double and then an RBI lineout to go up 3-0. Owens led off the second inning with a solo shot to centerfield to make it 3-1. Later Will Fromm walked but was unable to move into scoring position.
After two walks to the first two batters in the bottom of the second Cole Eggerding came in in relief for the Bulldogs. A three run home run in the inning charged two runs to Marlott and one to Eggerding.
In the top of the third Turner homered with two outs to left center to make it 6-2, but the Bulldogs would not get any closer.
Jackson Mitchell and JJ Swafford both went two scoreless innings for the Bulldogs, while Tucker Olson threw the eighth to finish off the game.
Truman will be back in action on Friday as they host Lewis in a crucial four game series.
