KIRKSVILLE, MO. - The Truman Men's Soccer team christened the new season with a 2-0 victory over Park (Mo.) University on Friday afternoon.
Mac Knudsen scored off a corner kick as the ball was deflected by Sam Newton in the 28th minute.
In the 57th, Newton hit a rocket from just outside the 18 that buried in the back corner of the net for his first goal of the season. Dom DeProspero had the helper on the score.
The Pirates had scoring chances but the Bulldog defense and keeper Josh Olwig kept them out of the net.
The Bulldogs will next host St. Cloud State (Minn.) on Wednesday afternoon at 1 p.m.
