Bulldogs Secure Three Points In Tournament Push With Second Half Goal Over UMSL

ST. LOUIS - Corbin Clay's goal with just under 20 minutes to play gave the Truman State men's soccer team a big 1-0 road win at the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday. The Bulldogs will wrap up the home portion of their regular season next weekend with matches against Lewis (Ill.) and Indianapolis.

Clay was inserted into the lineup midway through the second half and following a Bulldog corner kick, took a feed from Holden Potter and scored the first goal of the match. It was his fourth goal of the season and tied him with Luke Payne for the team lead.

UMSL pressured late with Justin Olwig having to make a stop in the 79th minute. The Tritons had four straight corner kicks in the final five minutes but the Bulldog defense kept the ball away from the net. Olwig faced 10 shots and made all seven saves for his fifth shutout of the season.

Truman improved to 5-2-2 in conference play and have 17 points secured, in firm control of one of eight spots for the GLVC postseason tournament. Lewis and UINDY both have over 20 points and the Flyers will be the opponent on Friday evening at 7 p.m.
