FAYETTE, Iowa - The Truman State Bulldogs got out to a quick 6-0 lead and led 9-3 early but Upper Iowa took advantage of turnovers and raced past the Bulldogs for an 82-63 win to complete the season sweep. Ellie Weltha led Truman State in scoring with 16 points.
Katie Tornstrom had the hot hand for Upper Iowa, scoring 19 of her game-high 21 points in the first half.
After that 9-3 lead for Truman, the Peacocks scored 17 of the next 26 points and led 20-17 at the end of one. That margin expanded in the second quarter with Upper Iowa making 11-of-17 shots, including four triples. The Peacocks scored 29 points in the second quarter and went into the locker room up 18 at 49-31.
The Peacocks won the glass by a 39-21 margin with nine offensive rebounds.
Weltha was 7-of-10 from the floor and Claire Rake knocked down five of six jumpers, including 4-of-5 from distance to score 14 points.
The Bulldogs will be idle until an exhibition game with Blackburn (Ill.) on December 30th.
