Dan Davis Wins 239th Game In Win At Missouri Western

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Coach Dan Davis became Truman State baseball's leader in career wins after the Bulldogs defeated Missouri Western 5-4.

Luke Turner had a great day at the plate, going 2-4 with four RBI and two doubles. Turner got Truman on the board first with a double down the left field line, scoring Tal Dean.

Dean scored on a passed ball to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead in the first before Missouri Western cut the lead to one on a sacrifice fly.

The Griffons tied it up in the sixth inning on another sacrifice fly then added another run in the seventh on an RBI single to take a 3-2 lead.

Turner hit a clutch three-RBI double in the eighth that scored Dean, Simon Murray, and Grant Beck to give Truman a 5-3 advantage. Missouri Western scored a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Bulldogs were able to hold on for the win.

Tal Dean went 2-3 with three runs and stole a base.

Grant Beck went 1-4 with a run.

Isaac Epp threw 5.2 innings, giving up two runs and striking out two. He gave up seven hits in the 22 batters he faced.

Brian Bruxvoort took the win in his inning pitched.

Dan Davis' 239th win surpassed Sam Nugent's 238 mark, a record that lasted 43 years.

Truman State plays two against Upper Iowa this Friday, and two games against Parkside on Saturday and Sunday.
