KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State baseball split a Friday doubleheader against UMSL at home.
Game One:
Truman won the first game 8-6 behind a solid offensive performance.
USML scored first in the first inning before Truman took a 5-1 lead in the same inning off RBI hits from Dylan Thompson, Tyler Tieman, Will Fromm, and Grant Beck. Thompson hit a sacrifice fly in the second to make it 6-2 Truman.
The Tritons added two in the third to make it 6-3, and Tal Dean got one back with an RBI single.
UMSL made it an interesting game in the fourth and fifth, cutting Truman's lead to one.
Luke Turner added an insurance run in the sixth to grow Truman's lead to 8-6.
Luke Turner and Tyler Tieman both went 2-3 hitting, with Turner having two runs and an RBI and Tieman scoring once and driving in two.
Dylan Thompson went 1-3 with two RBI.
Game Two:
The Bulldogs dropped game two of the doubleheader 6-2.
UMSL and Truman both scored a run in the second, with Grant Beck hitting an RBI single.
The Tritons scored three in the third and fourth innings to make it 4-1.
Kevin Donohue hit a home run to right field in the sixth to and the Tritons would add two more in the seventh.
Tal Dean, Kevin Donohue, Will Fromm, Grant Beck, and Simon Murray recorded hits.
Isaac Epp took the loss after throwing 6.1 innings, giving up two earned runs and five unearned.
Truman plays game four against UMSL to round out the series. The Bulldogs lead 2-1.
