KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State baseball won their series on Saturday against McKendree, taking game one 13-3 and game two 4-3 on a Grant Beck walk-off hit.
Game One:
McKendree went up 2-0 to start the game after scoring runs in the second and third innings.
The Bulldogs scored eight unanswered in the third in fourth. Luke Turner, Dylan Thompson, and Will Fromm all had RBI singles in the third. Simon Murray scored on an error by McKendree first baseman and Holden Missey homered to make it 8-2 Truman.
The Bearcats got one back in the fifth to cut the lead to five.
Simon Murray scored on an error again after stealing third, and Dakota Spicer drove Tal Dean in with a double in the fifth. Tal Dean hit a homer in the sixth to seal the 13-3 victory.
Luke Turner had three hits in five at-bats, driving in two and scoring three times.
Will Fromm and Simon Murray each had two hits, with Fromm recording two RBI.
Tal Dean, Holden Missey, Dylan Thompson all had two-RBI games.
Holden Missey threw a complete game, allowing two earned runs with four strikeouts.
Game Two:
The Bearcats scored first in the top of the first before Truman matched with a Luke Turner solo home run to make it a 1-1 game.
McKendree made it 2-1 in the third off an RBI single.
Dylan Thompson and Simon Murray gave Truman the lead with a Thompson bomb in the fourth and a Murray blast in the fifth.
A McKendree home run in the seventh tied it up.
Dakota Spicer hit a single to right field in the seventh and final inning and Will Fromm got him to second on a groundout. Grant Beck brought Spicer home with a single to center and the Bulldogs won the game 4-3.
Five Bulldogs recorded hits in the game. Luke Turner, Dylan Thompson, Dakota Spicer, and Grant Beck all went 1-3. Simon Murray went 1-2.
Brian Bruxvoort threw 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on nine hits along with five strikeouts.
Justin Maloney threw 0.1 innings, getting out the lone batter he faced.
Michael Dagget threw in the seventh inning, allowing one and striking out two in four at-bats.
