KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman State Men's Soccer team welcomed GLVC newcomer Upper Iowa University to the conference with a 4-0 victory over Peacocks in the league lid lifter on Sunday.
Luke Payne finished off a free kick from Sam Newton in the 12th minute to stake the Bulldogs to the 1-0 lead. It was Payne's 10th career goal and second the the season.
In the 33rd minute, newly inserted sub Corbin Clay notched his first collegiate goal on an assist by former high school teammate and fellow freshman Landon Keisker for a 2-0 lead.
Keisker picked up his second helper of the day early in the second half when he fed Jack Knust for a goal to make it 3-0.Â
Newton wrapped up the scoring with his first goal of the season off a pass by freshman Caden Hoehns.
Justin Olwig stopped all seven shots on goal by Upper Iowa for his fifth career shutout.
The Bulldogs will return to action on Friday night against the Quincy Hawks at 7 p.m.
