KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – A quick two goals proved to be all the Quincy Hawks needed to drop Truman State 2-0 in men's soccer Sunday.
Gavin Higgins netted a goal off an assist from Leo Cann in the 18th minute to give Quincy (Ill.) an early 1-0 advantage. Little more than a minute later an unassisted goal from Cann set the ledger at the final 2-0 in favor of the Hawks.
The Bulldogs managed five shots on goal including three from
Slayton Spencer, one from
Corbin Clay, and three more by
Jacob Panagos.
Truman State last lost Sept 20 at Illinois Springfield, and the 2-0 result against the Hawks was fifth time the Bulldogs have been shut out on the campaign.
The Bulldogs fall to 2-4-2 overall, 1-3-2 in GLVC play, while the win pushes Quincy's records to 3-5-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference. Truman State plays host to Rockhurst (Mo.) University this Friday at Stokes Stadium.
