TOPEKA, Kan. - Truman State baseball picked up their first win of the season at Washburn, defeating the Ichabods 7-4.

Washburn's Hayden Priest got the Ichabods on the board first with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the second.

The Bulldogs took a 3-2 in the top of the third when Dakota Joggerst scored on a wild pitch, and Luke Turner hit an RBI double then crossed the plate on an error.

Washburn tied it up in third on a home run then took the lead in the fourth by scoring on a fielders's choice.

Truman scored three runs in the sixth with Will Fromm scoring on an error and Luke Turner hitting another RBI double that scored Colin Mueth and Will Fromm.

Tyler Tieman added an insurance run in the ninth with an RBI single that brought Dakota Joggerst home.

Luke Turner and Dakota Joggerst both had three hits, with Turner driving in three runs. Joggerst reached home three times.

Will Fromm had a hit and a walk, Alex Wittenauer had a hit and two walk, and Tyler Tieman had a hit and an RBI.

Isaac Epp took home the win, throwing 6.0 innings with three earned runs. Epp struck out five batters, walked two, and allowed five hits.

Justin Maloney, Brian Bruxvoort, and Jaren Guck each threw an inning. None of them allowed a run and Maloney had a strikeout.

The Bulldogs are now 1-4 overall and play Washburn again tomorrow at 2 p.m.
