KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State baseball fell 8-2 and 6-0 to Missouri-St. Louis in a doubleheader.
Game One:
The Tritons scored two runs in the first and one in the second to go up 3-0 early.
Truman's Oliver Degenhardt hit his second home run of the season in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to two.
UMSL added another run in the fourth with an RBI single.
Dylan Thompson hit a double in the right-center gap that scored Tal Dean to make it a 4-2 ballgame.
Missouri-St. Louis added four more insurance runs in the sixth and eighth innings to take the win 8-2.
Tal Dean, Dylan Thompson, Oliver Degenhardt, and Kevin Donohue all went 2-4 at the plate. Thompson and Degenhardt recorded RBI, and Dean was walked once.
Luke Turner was the other Bulldog to record a hit.
Isaac Epp took the loss after throwing 6.0 innings with five earned runs. He struck out two, walked one, and gave up nine hits.
Jordan Marlott threw 2.0 innings, allowing three earned runs. He struck out two of the 12 batters he faced.
Kyle Stratton threw a shutout inning, getting all three batters out.
Game Two:
The Tritons scored all six of the game's runs in the top of the second inning.
Dakota Joggerst went 2-3 hitting with a stolen base.
Tal Dean, Oliver Degenhardt, Tyler Tieman, Will Fromm, and Colin Mueth all recorded a hit in the contest. Mueth drew a walk as well.
Ty Rauser took the loss after giving up six earned runs in 1.2 innings pitched.
Alex Leary threw 5.1 shutout innings, with only one hit allowed, Leary struck out eight batters and walked four.
The Bulldogs and Tritons finish the series with two more games tomorrow at 1 and 4 p.m.
