Bulldogs Take Two at Midwest Crossover Tournament

Hammond, Ind. — The Truman State Volleyball team turned in a strong weekend showing at the Midwest Crossover Tournament, earning a pair of straight-set victories over Malone and Thomas More before falling to Wisconsin–Parkside to close play on Saturday.

The Bulldogs opened the event Friday morning with a 3–0 sweep (25–17, 25–22, 26–24) over Malone. Truman established its rhythm early behind balanced attacking and steady serve receive, controlling the first two sets and fending off a late push by the Pioneers in the third. Autumn Erickson and Laci Neece led the offense with efficient swings, while setter Tori Creason guided a consistent attack that kept Malone's block off balance.

Later that evening, Truman followed with another straight-set win, defeating Thomas More 3–0 (25–10, 31–29, 25–18). The Bulldogs stormed through the opening set before outlasting the Saints in a thrilling second frame that went deep into extra points. Truman's depth and serve pressure proved key in sealing the sweep as the Bulldogs finished the night without dropping a set.

Truman closed the weekend against a strong Wisconsin–Parkside squad, falling 3–0 (15–25, 23–25, 13–25). The Bulldogs challenged the Rangers in the second set, but Parkside's efficiency at the net proved too much to overcome. Even in defeat, the Bulldogs battled through long rallies and showed flashes of the form that carried them through their first two wins of the weekend.

Truman finished the tournament 2–1, improving to 8–13 overall heading into the final stretch of the regular season. As a team, the Bulldogs totaled 113 kills, 104 assists, 17 service aces, 127 digs, and 37 total blocks across the three matches, demonstrating balanced offense and consistent defensive execution.
