Truman State Men Turn Up Heat Early To Down Lincoln 70-56

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Truman State Men's Basketball team took advantage of a cold start by the Lincoln Blue Tigers and scored the first 11 points of the game as the Bulldogs won 70-56 to start an important road trip.

Lincoln made just one of their first 10 shots to start the game and Truman State led 11-0 just three minutes into the contest. The Bulldogs would lead by 17 points twice in the first half behind eight three-pointers.

Lincoln got it back to 10 at the halftime break but came out and missed their first five shots to start the second while Truman scored the first four points to restore order.

The Blue Tigers got as close as seven points twice in the second period.

All five starters scored in double figures led by Trey Shearer's 16 points and 13 each from Kobi Williams, Xavier Hall and Brennan Lovette. Casen Lawrence added 10.

Truman finished 9-of-22 from outside with only one triple, by Lawrence in the second half. Lincoln was just 2-of-20 from distance for the night.

The victory gives the Bulldogs the season sweep over Lincoln and an important win against a team just ahead of them in the league standings.

Truman State will travel to the conference's top team, Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon.
