Isaac Epp’s shutout against Southwest Baptist (Mo.) earns GLVC Pitcher of the Week honor

INDIANAPOLIS – Tossing goose eggs across the board against Southwest Baptist (Mo.) Saturday earned Isaac Epp hardware with the GLVC Pitcher of the Week award.

The junior southpaw's complete game kept the Bearcats at bay with seven shut-out innings allowing five hits, walking none, while striking out seven, opening a doubleheader sweep in Kirksville, Mo.

The win, his first of the season, included surviving leadoff doubles in both the second and third innings with the Bulldog defense erasing the latter on a relay to third. The fifth opened with a Truman State error allowing Southwest Baptist to get its would-be first run ninety feet away, but two grounders and a strikeout ended the threat. The seventh also ended with a strikeout – despite Bearcat singles to get runners at the corners – to seal the win.

Epp's shutout was the first by a Bulldog since a 4-0 win over Christian Brothers (Tenn.) Feb. 12, 2012. His GLVC Pitcher of the Week award was the first for Truman State Baseball since Alex Leary on March 21, 2022.
