Bulldogs defeat Lincoln Friday on Lindsey’s first win

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman State Baseball held off the Lincoln (Mo.) Blue Tigers to take Game 1 of the weekend series, 5-4.
 
Starter Danny Lindsey picked up his first collegiate win working 6.2 innings with a career-high seven strike outs. The freshman allowed four runs – all earned – surrendering back-to-back two-run home runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Bryce Balistreri worked a scoreless 2.1 innings in relief for the first save of his career.
 
Rawlins Brant, 3-4 on the day, scored a run in both the first and second innings with the Bulldogs grabbing a 4-0 lead after two. Brant, Oliver Degenhardt, and Dakota Joggerst all knocked doubles with Degenhardt pacing the squad with three RBI. Quinten Bauman's first career home run, leading off the Bulldog sixth, provided the margin of victory for the Purple and White.
 
Lincoln and Truman State will be back at it Saturday with a double header scheduled for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
