Box Score | Season Stats

(KIRKSVILLE, Mo.) – The 10th-ranked Truman volleyball squad dominated from start to finish in a three-set sweep of Northwest Missouri on Friday night in Pershing Arena. The Bulldogs won in just over an hour by the scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-20.

Truman hit. 371 on the night and committed a mere five attack errors in moving to 18-3 overall and 7-2 in the MIAA. On the other side of the net, Northwest (8-9, 4-5 MIAA) mustered just a .018 attack percentage and was turned away 11 times on Truman blocks – all coming in the first and second sets.

After running away with sets one and two early, the Bulldogs and Bearcats were tied at ten early in the third frame before Truman took nine of the next ten points to pull ahead, 19-11. NWMSU would creep back into the match late, closing a 23-14 gap to 24-20, but a service error by the Bearcats clinched the match for the purple and white.

Every Bulldog who played on the front row registered at least one kill on the night, with senior Allison Barker's seven leading Truman. Five other Bulldogs put away five kills, with two others adding four kills apiece. Senior setter Ashley Petak notched an assist-dig double-double with 18 and 13 respectively, and her 13 digs were a match-high.

Truman out-blocked Northwest, 11-3, on the night and held a 5-1 advantage in service aces.  Sophomore Emily Briseno paced the 'Dogs with six blocks (two solo), with sophomore Megan Sharpe adding five block assists of her own.

Sara Falcone led the Bearcats with seven kills and two blocks.

The Bulldogs will close the first half of its MIAA season on Saturday (Oct. 16) night at home when they host Missouri Western at 7 pm in Pershing Arena.
