KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — Truman State University Head Volleyball Coach David Gannon has announced the addition of Jacquie Cason as Assistant Volleyball Coach. Cason brings a wealth of experience across multiple levels of collegiate volleyball, including time as a head coach within the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Cason joins the Bulldogs after serving as Head Volleyball Coach at Missouri University of Science and Technology from March 2024 through December 2025. As the program's only full-time coach, she recruited 13 athletes in two years, developed three GLVC Players of the Week, and guided a freshman middle blocker who led the entire conference in blocks per set during the 2025 season. She also recruited corporate sponsors, ran a preseason tournament, and presented at the American Volleyball Coaches Association Convention on the use of personality testing in recruiting and team building.
Prior to Missouri S&T, Cason spent nearly three years as Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Northwest Missouri State, where she served as the primary contact for prospective student-athletes, helped balance the program budget, developed team blocking schemes, and served on the AVCA Assistant Coaches Committee. She also served as Camp Director for the Bearcats, organizing and hosting more than 300 campers annually. Her earlier coaching stops include Eastern Illinois University, Nicholls State University, Texas A&M Commerce, and Sacred Heart Academy, where she was part of a staff that captured the 2016 Kentucky State Championship.
Cason is a former collegiate athlete herself, competing as a volleyball player at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she earned Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition every semester and accumulated more than 250 hours of community service. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UTEP and a Master's in Applied Health Science from Northwest Missouri State, where she graduated with a 4.0 GPA.
"I'm excited to have Jacquie join our team as my new assistant coach," said Gannon. "I have been able to interact with her the last two years she was in the conference and I know how much of a competitor she is. She brings a great amount of volleyball knowledge from all different levels that will impact our program in a positive way. It's a bonus to hire someone so connected to the Missouri and Midwest recruiting landscape so we can keep moving the needle forward. I look forward to adding Jacquie to our Bulldog family."
"Excited to be a part of a historically good volleyball program and help push us to the next level," Cason said. "Thank you to Coach Gannon and the search committee for the opportunity. I have felt welcome from the second I arrived on campus."
