(KIRKSVILLE, Mo.) – For the second time in three matches, the Truman women's soccer team dominated an opponent for 110 minutes but was unable to come away with a decision, setting for a 0-0 draw at home on Thursday afternoon against Missouri Western. The Bulldogs outshot MWSU, 29-6, for the match.
Truman (5-2-3, 4-1-3 MIAA) logged its third draw of the MIAA regular season against a Griffon (0-5-5, 0-3-5) squad that mustered just two total shots in the first 90 minutes of action. But the 'Dogs, meanwhile, only put nine of their 29 total shots on net, with five coming off the foot of freshman
Suzanne Pelley.
Junior keeper Jayne Grisham was forced to make just two saves, but her stop of a Desi Swanson breakaway in front of the net in the game's 91st minute proved to be save of the match and preserved at least one point in the conference standings. It was also Grisham's fifth shutout in Truman's first ten matches of the season, with her GAA dropping to 0.59.
Truman fell to third in the MIAA with the draw on Thursday afternoon and is one point behind Nebraska-Omaha, who defeated Emporia State, 3-1, on Thursday.
The Bulldogs will next travel to Maryville, Mo., on Saturday to start round two of conference action, taking on Northwest Missouri (1-7-2, 1-6-1 MIAA) at 2 pm.
