Bulldogs Women's Soccer Announces Eight-Member 2026 Signing Class

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman State University head women's soccer coach Mike Cannon announced the addition of eight student-athletes to the Bulldog women's soccer program for the 2026 season. The signing class features players from across Missouri and Illinois who bring a combination of technical skill, athleticism, and academic excellence to Kirksville.

"We are extremely excited to welcome our 2026 class to the Truman State Women's Soccer family," said Cannon. "This group was recruited with a focus on size, pace, versatility, and a competitive edge as well as a strong desire to excel and engage in the locker room, the classroom, on campus, and in the community. We can't wait to welcome them to campus this August!"

Mabel Sanders – Midfielder (5-7) – Pevely, Missouri – St. Pius HS – Scott Gallagher (MO)

A dynamic central midfielder, Sanders brings excellent vision and technical ability to the Bulldogs' midfield. Playing for one of the region's premier clubs in Scott Gallagher, she has developed strong skills in both attack and defense from the center of the park.

"I chose Truman State because it offers the perfect combination of a competitive athletic program and strong academics," said Sanders. "From the moment I visited campus and met the coaching staff, I immediately noticed the team culture and sense of community, and it really stood out to me. I can't wait to contribute to the team and continue growing as a student-athlete while representing Truman State."

Addison Carroll – Midfielder/Forward (5-10) – Washington, Missouri – St. Francis Borgia – St. Louis Development Academy

Carroll provides versatility in the attacking third with her ability to play both as a midfielder and forward. Standing at 5-10, she brings size and athleticism to complement her technical skills developed at the St. Louis Development Academy.

"I chose Truman because I connected well with the soccer girls and Coach Cannon, it's a top level academic school, and I loved the campus," said Carroll.

Steinmetz adds another tall, athletic presence to the midfield. The Scott Gallagher product brings competitive fire and a strong desire to improve to the Bulldogs' program.

"I chose Truman because I want to be part of a program that competes at a high level and pushes me to become a better player every day!" said Steinmetz. "I think Truman will be a place where I can grow on and off the field."

Sternau provides defensive stability and technical proficiency from the back line. Playing for Scott Gallagher's Illinois branch, she has developed the tactical awareness and composure needed to succeed at the collegiate level.

"Truman State felt like the perfect fit," said Sternau. "The coaches and team were incredibly welcoming and the campus was beautiful. I could see myself thriving in both the athletic and academic programs."

Busch brings goal-scoring ability and attacking presence to the Bulldogs' front line. At 5-9, she combines size with technical skill to create problems for opposing defenses.

"Truman State gives me the opportunity to compete at a high level while earning a great education!" said Busch.

Rosemary Demling – Midfielder (5-4) – O'Fallon, Missouri – Francis Howell – St. Louis Development Academy (MO)

Demling adds quickness and technical ability to the midfield. Despite her compact frame, she brings tenacity and creativity developed through her time at the St. Louis Development Academy.

"I chose Truman State because as soon as I stepped on campus it felt like home, and it will continue to push me to be a better student and athlete," said Demling.

O'Connell provides pace and width on the flanks. Playing for Missouri Rush, she has developed the speed and skill needed to be an effective attacking threat from the wing position.

"I chose Truman State because of how welcoming and encouraging the team was when I went to practice with them," said O'Connell. "I felt like I belonged and like I could truly see myself playing alongside them."

Peng rounds out the midfield additions with her technical ability and soccer intelligence. Developed at United Capital City, she brings a well-rounded game to the center of the park.

"I chose Truman State University because the atmosphere of the campus and team is amazing!" said Peng. "Truman gives me the perfect balance of academic challenge and athletic opportunities. It's a place where I can grow as a student and a player to become the best version of myself!"

The 2026 signing class brings size, speed, versatility, and a competitive mentality that will help the Bulldogs continue to compete at a high level in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. With three players standing 5-9 or taller and a mix of attacking and defensive talent, Coach Cannon and his staff have assembled a group that addresses multiple needs while maintaining the program's commitment to academic and athletic excellence.

The newcomers will join the Bulldogs on campus in August 2026 as they begin their journey as student-athletes at Truman State University.
