KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State Athletics posted five wins, two losses and one draw across eight competitions during a successful Family Weekend. Football earned its first victory of the season with a 42-14 win over Missouri S&T, both soccer teams went unbeaten, women's soccer collected two conference victories and volleyball opened Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a road sweep. Jacob Panagos provided one of the week's top individual performances by scoring three times in men's soccer's 3-3 draw with Lincoln.

Football Rolls Past Missouri S&T, 42-14

Truman State opened GLVC play with a 42-14 victory over Missouri S&T on Saturday afternoon at Stokes Stadium. The Bulldogs scored 21 points during the final seven minutes of the second quarter and finished with 459 yards of total offense in front of 3,400 fans during Family Weekend.

Madden Irving opened the scoring with a seven-yard touchdown run before the Miners tied the game at seven. Dylan Hair answered with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Kai Crowe, then scored on a 17-yard run with five seconds remaining in the half. Irving completed the two-point conversion to give Truman a 21-7 halftime lead.

Hair connected with Vance Herring for an 11-yard touchdown during the third quarter. Irving added his second rushing score early in the fourth, and Quincy Mayfield completed the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run.

The Bulldogs rushed for 243 yards and held Missouri S&T to 48 yards on the ground. Hair completed 16 of 28 passes for 216 yards and two touchdowns while adding a game-high 121 rushing yards. Irving carried 19 times for 105 yards and two scores. Crowe led the receiving group with four catches for 71 yards and a touchdown.

Truman's defense recorded seven tackles for loss, two sacks and seven pass breakups. Idrique Carmichael and Jack Weltha each made seven tackles, while Logan Montoya and Alex Medina recorded one sack apiece. Dalton Brown intercepted a pass during the second quarter.

The victory moved Truman to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the GLVC.

Volleyball Splits Opening GLVC Road Trip

Truman 3, Missouri S&T 0

Truman opened conference play Friday night with a 25-14, 25-18, 25-23 sweep of Missouri S&T in Rolla.

The Bulldogs committed only nine attacking errors and recorded 43 kills on 94 attempts for a .362 hitting percentage. Truman hit .536 during the opening set and held the Miners to a .132 percentage for the match.

Laci Neece led the offense with 17 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Autumn Erickson hit .533 with 10 kills, while Jessie Julius added eight kills and 11 digs. Tori Creason distributed 38 assists, and Avery Poppe finished with 11 digs.

Truman also recorded seven blocks and five service aces while earning their fourth consecutive victory.

Maryville 3, Truman 1

The winning streak ended Saturday as Maryville defeated Truman 25-20, 27-25, 20-25, 25-19 in St. Louis.

Erickson produced a match-high 19 kills with only two errors, finishing with a .548 hitting percentage. She also recorded four service aces and eight total blocks. Creason contributed 46 assists and 10 digs, while Addy Janssen led the back row with 21 digs. Neece added nine kills and 16 digs.

The Bulldogs finished with 53 kills, 10 service aces and 10 blocks but allowed 11 aces. Truman moved to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Women's Soccer Collects Two GLVC Victories

Truman 1, Illinois Springfield 0

Mackenzie Wright scored in the 40th minute to lift Truman to a 1-0 road victory over Illinois Springfield on Wednesday.

Sam Busch assisted Wright's first goal of the season at the 39:12 mark. The Bulldogs protected the lead despite Illinois Springfield finishing with a 12-7 advantage in shots and taking six corner kicks.

Goalkeeper Mikayla Thomas stopped all five shots she faced to record the shutout. The victory moved Truman to 2-2-3 overall and 1-1-2 in GLVC play.

Truman 2, Lincoln 1

Wright scored again Sunday as the Bulldogs completed a perfect week with a 2-1 home victory over Lincoln.

Lizzy Peng set up Wright's goal in the 44th minute, sending Truman into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Lincoln tied the match less than four minutes into the second half, but Hanna Ritter delivered the winning goal at 81:47 off an assist from Morgan Puszkar.

Truman outshot Lincoln 17-9 and earned nine corner kicks. Thomas made five saves while recording her second victory of the week. The Bulldogs improved to 3-2-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the GLVC.

Panagos Hat Trick Highlights Unbeaten Week for Men's Soccer

Truman 1, Illinois Springfield 0

Brady Lombardo scored the only goal of the match as Truman earned a 1-0 road victory over Illinois Springfield on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs played shorthanded for most of the match following a red card in the 22nd minute but broke the scoreless tie when Lombardo scored his third goal of the season at 54:34.

Owen Robben made three saves to preserve the shutout. Illinois Springfield finished with a 12-9 advantage in shots, but each team placed three attempts on goal. The victory improved Truman to 3-2-1 overall and 2-1-1 in conference play.

Truman 3, Lincoln 3

Panagos scored all three Truman goals Sunday as the Bulldogs erased a two-goal deficit and earned a 3-3 draw with Lincoln.

Lincoln took the lead in the 19th minute before Panagos tied the match at 42:51. The Blue Tigers scored twice during the second half and carried a 3-1 advantage into the final 15 minutes.

Panagos started Truman's comeback with his second goal at 75:30. He completed the hat trick on a penalty kick less than four minutes later, tying the match at three. The three goals raised his season total to eight.

Panagos scored on all three of his shots on goal, while Robben made six saves. Truman moved to 3-2-2 overall and 2-1-2 in the GLVC.

Women's Tennis Opens Dual Season

Missouri Baptist defeated Truman 6-1 on Friday afternoon at the Truman Tennis Courts.

Emily Peterson earned the Bulldogs' team point at No. 6 singles. After dropping the opening set 6-4, Peterson won the second set 6-4 and captured the deciding tiebreaker 10-8.

Rachel Bivens also extended her match at No. 5 singles to a deciding tiebreaker. Bivens won the opening set 7-5 before falling 5-7, 9-11. Missouri Baptist won the remaining four singles matches and swept the three doubles contests.

Women's Golf opens its season Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22, at the KC Cup hosted by William Jewell College. Women's Golf Schedule
