Volleyball Caps 3-0 Week with Sweep

Box Score | Season Stats

KIRKSVILLE - - The Truman volleyball offense closed out a hot-hitting week with a .369 team hitting effort, as six different players tallied at least six kills in a quick 3-0 (-19, -21, -21) sweep of Pittsburg State on Saturday night.

No Bulldog hitter hit worse than .250, as Molly Sinclair (St. Louis, Mo., Ursuline Academy)'s 10-kill, .391 effort to go with 13 digs helped Truman close out a 3-0 week of MIAA play. The 'Dogs (16-9, 5-4 MIAA) made just seven attack errors as a team and put down 16 kills in each set, as the teams were tied just eight times overall in the one-hour, 11-minute match.

Both Megan Sharpe (Edwardsville, Ill., Edwardsville) and Allie Brak (The Colony, Texas, The Colony) added nine kills, while Emily Briseno (Lee's Summit, Mo., Lee's Summit West) chipped in seven kills of her own. Right-sides Lauren Radix (Black Earth, Wis., Wisconsin Heights) and Erin Burmester (DeWitt, Iowa, DeWitt) combined for 12 kills and just one error to balance the well-rounded effort. Meghan Zimmerman (Papillion, Neb., Gross Catholic) put up her second double-double in as many nights with 23 assists and 11 digs, while Kylie Easlon (Edmond, Okla., Edmond Santa Fe) added 17 assists and eight digs during her rotations.

Abby Moser (Wildwood, Mo., Lafayette) led all players with 16 digs, and Sharpe's five blocks were also a match-high. Moser surpassed the 500-dig mark for the season in the match.

The Bulldogs, having won seven of their last eight matches, re-start the conference slate on Tuesday night when they travel to Emporia State for a 7:00 pm start. Truman downed ESU in five sets to open MIAA play on Sept. 17 in Kirksville.
