Bulldogs Blast Southern Behind Offensive Explosion

Box Score | Season Stats

JOPLIN, Mo. - - It was an all-out attack by the Truman volleyball team on Friday night, as the Bulldogs hit .408 and got double-digit kills by senior Molly Sinclair and juniors Megan Sharpe and Emily Briseno to down Missouri Southern 3-1 (-17, -14, 21-25, -17).

The Bulldogs (20-13, 9-8 MIAA) hit better than .400 in each of the three sets they won, including blistering .469 and .452 marks in the second and fourth to pick up a season sweep of MSSU (5-24, 3-14 MIAA) and reach the 20-win mark for the 22nd consecutive season.

After the 'Dogs cruised to first and second set victories, the third set proved once again to be a sticking point, as Truman dropped its eighth straight third set to allow Southern to creep within 2-1. However, it was all Truman again in the fourth, pounding 18 kills to punctuate the match with a 25-17 decision.

Sinclair added 11 digs to her team-high 14 kills for a double-double, while Truman's middle blockers – Briseno (13 kills, .611%) and Sharpe (13 kills, .375%) – ran wild. Junior Lauren Radix hit .667% with nine kills on the right-side, while freshman Allie Brak added seven kills and 11 digs of her own.

Setters Kylie Easlon (26) and Meghan Zimmerman (25) were nearly equal in their assist distribution, while freshman Abby Moser finished with 12 digs to lead the squad.

The Bulldogs close out the regular season tomorrow night (Nov. 12) at 6:00 pm in Pittsburg, Kan., against Pittsburg State.
