Ashley Rotkvich

Game 1 Box Score

Game 2 Box Score

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - - Ashley Rotkvich homered, drove in a pair and pitched 6.2 innings of scoreless softball to guide Truman to a 3-0 win against Central Missouri on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs fell, 6-2, in the nightcap.

Rotkvich (Crestwood, Ill., Shepard) had a three hit game in the opener for Truman (16-14, 4-4 MIAA), who has split all four MIAA doubleheaders this season. The junior also led off the fourth with a homerun to break a scoreless tie before adding an insurance RBI in the fifth with a single to score Kelsey Bollman (Maquoketa, Iowa, Maquoketa).

After the 'Dogs carried the 3-0 lead to the last of the seventh, the Jennies threatened by putting runners on second and third with two outs in front of their cleanup hitter, Kelli Kurka. Elizabeth Grover, however, came on to strike her out looking, picking up her second save of the season. Bollman had a pair of hits in the No. 2 spot in the lineup, while Katie Pitts (Jefferson City, Mo., Helias High School) had a hit and scored an unearned run.

Grover (Troy, Mo., University of Evansville) came back out to start the second game, but UCM (20-12, 5-1 MIAA) got on her for six runs in 2.2 innings, building a 6-1 lead through three innings. The 'Dogs would plate an unearned run in the third, when a Laura Miller (Columbia, Mo., Hickman) single capitalized on an earlier error that allowed Alex Weber (Manhattan, Ill., Lincoln-Way Central High School) to reach, and score, before Rotkvich blasted an RBI double to left center to score Bridget Schade (Herculanium, Mo., Herculanium).

But despite Beth Schnurbusch's 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, the Bulldogs couldn't draw closer than the eventual final of 6-2. Bollman and Rotkvich again provided the offensive power, registering two hits apiece.

Truman returns to Kirksville for three doubleheaders next week, starting with a nonconference tilt with Missouri-St. Louis on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 pm.
