Women’s Soccer Drops Nonconference Tilt

Box Score

QUINCY, Ill. - - The Truman women's soccer team had its two-match winning streak snapped at No. 24 Quincy University on Tuesday night, as the Lady Hawks scored two in the first half and held off the Bulldogs in a 3-0 decision.

Quincy (8-1) got on the board in the first minute when Aimee Ubriaco intercepted a Bulldog turnover and converted from ten yards out. Later in the half, the Lady Hawks benefited from a Truman own goal off a QU corner kick, pushing the Quincy edge to 2-0 before the break.

Then, in the 61st minute, Quincy found paydirt again along the endline as Jaclyn Mastroianni scored to put the Lady Hawks ahead, 3-0. Despite Truman taking eight shots and putting two on net, the Bulldogs couldn't get a ball past QU keeper Jodi Chapie. Juniors Olivia Hayes and Kelsey Twellman, alongside sophomore Kristina Weishar, were credited with two shots each for the 'Dogs (3-4-2).

Truman returns to conference play this weekend with a trip to Fort Hays (Kan.) State on Saturday (Oct. 1) at 1:00 pm. It is the first meeting between the two programs, as the Tigers are in their inaugural season this year.
