KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - A 62nd minute goal off a deep free kick was the difference on a sunny Sunday afternoon, as the Truman women's soccer team was stunned 1-0 by visiting Nebraska-Kearney at the Bulldog Soccer Pitch.

UNK's Sarah Talcott lined up from nearly 40 yards out and lofted a ball into the box that bounded over the Bulldog (11-4-1, 7-3 MIAA) defense and into the back of the net for the game's only goal. Truman dominated the run of play, out-shooting the Lopers (9-6-2, 4-5-2 MIAA) by a 16-7 margin on the afternoon, but the Bulldogs only found the frame on four of their 16 shots, compared to four of seven for UNK.

Emily Bozdeck (St. Louis, Mo., Lindbergh) made three saves in net, while Suzanne Pelley (Weldon Spring, Mo., Francis Howell) and Olivia Hayes (Clayton, Mo., Clayton) each took four shots. The Bulldogs recognized six seniors – Stasia Montgomery, Kelsey Twellman, Kayla Doran, Lindsay Brennan, Emily McMeekin and Hayes – prior to the contest in what was their final regular season home match.

Despite the pair of losses this weekend, Truman clinched its berth into the MIAA tournament, and, with just one point total from two road matches at Central Missouri and Southwest Baptist next week, the Bulldogs will earn a first-round home MIAA tournament match on Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Truman will kick off the final week of the regular season on Thursday (Oct. 25) night at UCM. Truman defeated the Jennies 1-0 in a non-conference match in late September.
