KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Fort Hays State's Nicole Randall converted a 25-yard free kick for the game's only goal, as the sixth-seeded Tigers upset the Truman women's soccer team 1-0 in the quarterfinal round of the MIAA conference tournament on Tuesday afternoon.

Following a Bulldog foul, Randall stepped up and put her shot just out of the reach of Truman keeper Emily Bozdeck, breaking a scoreless deadlock with 14:52 to play in the match. The Bulldogs (12-6-1), seeded third in the conference tournament, had their chances throughout the match – out-shooting the Tigers 21-13 including 4-2 on goal – but could not convert, sending FHSU through to the semifinals this weekend.

Truman forced FHSU (12-6-1) to weather an early storm, as the Bulldogs put three quick shots on net, then hit the crossbar in the 24th minute and the right post in the 37th as the team went to the break scoreless. Neither team put much together in the first 30 minutes of the second half prior to Randall's game-winning free kick. The Bulldogs then took five shots in the final stretch, including one on goal, but could not find the equalizer before the final horn sounded.

Junior Trisha Shoemaker (Pleasant Valley, Iowa, Pleasant Valley)  making her return following a six-game lay-off due to injury, led the Bulldogs with five shots, while senior Olivia Hayes (Clayton, Mo., Clayton) took four shots of her own. Bozdeck (St. Louis, Mo., Lindbergh) made one save in net for the 'Dogs.
