Box Score || Season Stats
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - A late comeback attempt for the Truman men's basketball team came up just short on Wednesday night in Pershing Arena, as Upper Iowa picked up a 70-67 victory despite 20 points and nine rebounds by Bulldog junior forward Mike Carlson.

Upper Iowa (2-0) carried a seven point lead into the intermission, but Truman (0-2) kept the game close, including sitting within a two possession margin for the final six and a half minutes. The Bulldogs cut it to one at 63-62 with 29 seconds left, but UIU hit four straight free throws to push the margin back to five. Cory Myers hit a jumper for Truman and the Peacocks split a pair at the line, before Carlson drained a three-pointer with 2.4 seconds on the clock.

Truman nearly forced a five-second call prior to a Peacock timeout, before UIU hit two free throws for the 70-67 final score. The Bulldogs didn't get off a shot before time expired.

Truman shot 47% (25-for-53) from the floor on the night and hit six triples, as Carlson reached the 20-point mark for the second straight game. Seth Jackson added 17 points, four assists and three steals, while Cole Myers hit double-figures with 10 points behind three three-pointers.

UIU made just enough free throws down the stretch to keep the Bulldogs at bay, as neither team executed well from the charity stripe. Truman hit just 11-of-22 (50%) attempts and the Peacocks posted a 14-for-23 (61%) mark.

The Bulldogs head to Division I Indiana State this Saturday afternoon for a 1:05 start time. The game counts as an exhibition contest for Truman.
