EMPORIA, Kan. - - The league leading team in most hitting categories was silenced on Friday afternoon as Emporia (Kan.) State University held the Truman women's softball team to only seven hits in a 10-0, 8-0 doubleheader sweep.

The Bulldogs (12-13, 1-3 MIAA) struggled to get the bats going early, with
Bridget Schade (Herculaneum, Mo., Herculaneum) and Laura Miller (Columbia, Mo., Hickman) tallying Truman's only two hits in game one. Two errors by the 'Dogs in the third inning ignited the Hornet (14-6, 6-0 MIAA) offense that ultimately led to game one ending after only five innings.

Two singles by
Kelsey Bollman (Maquoketa, Iowa, Maquoketa) in game two boosted the Bulldog offense, but the 'Dogs could not contain Emporia's bats as the Hornets racked up 12 hits with two homeruns. Truman had opportunities in the first and fifth innings to bring in runners, but could never get them past third base. In game two, the 'Dogs left six runners on base.

Truman will head to St. Joseph, Mo. on Saturday for a doubleheader matchup against the No. 10 ranked Missouri Western State University Griffons. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
