Flyers Take Two From Bulldogs At Home

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Tennis teams fell to the Lewis University (Ill.) Flyers on Friday afternoon in Kirksville. The women lost 7-2 while the men were defeated 8-1.
 
The Flyers swept through the men's doubles with scores of 8-1, 8-4 and 8-5 and took five of the six singles matches. Truman's lone win came in the six singles match as Mike Merchant was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over John Richert.  Jake Ohlhausen lost a tough first set 7-6 before bowing out 6-0 at number two against Armand Levandi.
 
In the women's match, Jessica Gennuso and Kelsey Porter could not put away Bayley Brown and Kendra Mills in the third doubles match as the Flyer duo rallied for an 8-6 winner to put Lewis up 3-0 heading into singles. Kim Birenbaum needed three sets before picking up a win at  number three while Kati Austin won 8-3 at number six for Truman's points.
 
Both teams will be in action on Sunday at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
