TAHLEQUAH, Okla.  - -A pair of nail-biting seventh innings both played out Truman's way on Saturday afternoon, as the Bulldog softball team swept a doubleheader at Northeastern (Okla.) State, 7-3 and 3-2, to open a weekend road trip.

The Bulldogs (16-19) got single runs in the first and fifth innings of game one on a Mary Manley RBI double and a pair of Riverhawk errors but found themselves trailing 3-2 entering the final frame. However, with two outs and one aboard, sophomore Kelsey Bollman walked and senior Bridget Schade was hit by a pitch to load the bases in front of Manley. Manley then drew a five-pitch walk to force in a run before freshman Liz Leath delivered her first career grand slam over the left field fence to put the 'Dogs ahead 7-3.

Kelsea Dorsey, who entered in relief of starter Kirsten Krause in the fifth inning, then finished off NSU with a 1-2-3 bottom half to help the purple and white pick up the win. Leath and fellow freshman Andrea Klipsch posted two-hit games for Truman.

Then, in game two, Truman jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the third inning behind a Bollman RBI groundout and a Schade RBI single before tacking on an additional run in the fourth when Leath advanced home on a Klipsch caught stealing. NSU was silenced by senior starter Ashley Rotkvich until the seventh when three straight hits scored two and brought Dorsea on in relief again. Following a strikeout, NSU hit back-to-back singles to load the bases with just one out, but the freshman induced a flyout and a popout to earn her third save with Rotkvich picking up her second win.

Schade went 2-for-2, while Klipsch added two more hits for Truman, who will close the weekend road swing on Sunday at the University of Central Oklahoma (29-3). The first pitch against the nation's sixth-ranked squad is set for 1:00 pm.
