KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Senior Megan Sharpe broke her career-high in kills during Saturday's opening match, then matched the new benchmark in the finale as the Bulldogs picked up a pair of wins on day two of the Days Inn Bulldog Invitational.

Sharpe (Edwardsville, Ill., Edwardsville), who finished the weekend averaging 4.21 kills per set, 1.21 blocks per set and hitting .427 with just nine errors in 117 attempts, hit the 22-kill mark in both a 3-2 win against Winona (Minn.) State and in a 3-1 victory against Missouri-St. Louis.

In Truman's opening match of the day, the Bulldogs see-sawed with Winona through the first four sets, as Truman captured sets one and three while the Warriors (2-2) won sets two and four. WSU then opened up leads of 5-2, 11-8 and 12-9 in the fifth, before Truman scored five of six to take a 14-13 advantage. A Winona kill knotted the score again, but Sharpe's 22nd kill and a bad set by the Warriors ended the match. Sharpe led all players with 22 kills and a .409 mark, while Abby Heise (Jacksonville, Ill., Springfield Lutheran) added 11 kills of her own. Meghan Zimmerman (Papillion, Neb., Gross Catholic) set her way to a double-double with 43 assists and 13 digs, as five Bulldogs reached double-figures in the dig category. Abby Moser (Wildwood, Mo., Lafayette) took home top match honors with 24, and Allyson Stellmach (Huntley, Ill., Huntley) added 15.

Then, in the finale, Truman and UMSL split sets one and two before the Bulldogs hit a combined .302 in the third and fourth frames to pull out a 3-1 win. Sharpe again led all players with an identical 22-kill, .409 line, and Kassi Schroeder (Stanford, Ill., Stanford Olympia) picked up her first collegiate double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. Zimmerman added 43 assists and 12 digs for her fourth double-double of the weekend, while Moser's 18 digs led all players.

The Bulldogs, now 3-1 on the season, return to action next weekend at the Nebraska-Kearney Invitational on Friday, Sept. 7 and Saturday, Sept. 8.
