KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - After posting a 1-1 opening weekend record against two of the top teams in the Northern Sun conference, the Truman women's soccer team is set to pack its bags and head north for a pair of matches at Augustana (Friday) and Sioux Falls (Sunday).

The weekend will wrap up the opening part of non-conference play, as Truman (1-1) will face two more Central region opponents before diving into conference play next week. The Bulldogs will knock out two schools in one town, heading to Sioux Falls, S.D., for a 5 pm Friday evening match at Augustana and a 1 pm Sunday showdown at Sioux Falls.

The Bulldogs played through a downpour last Friday afternoon against Minnesota State, falling 2-1 as MSU scored in the waning minutes, before rebounding with a 2-0 shutout against Winona (Minn.) State on Sunday. MSU and WSU were picked 1-2 in the NSIC preseason coaches' poll, as the MIAA joins the NSIC and Great American Conference for Central regional play this season.

Junior forward Trisha Shoemaker had a hand in all three Bulldog goals, scoring Friday's only goal and adding the insurance tally on Sunday, while assisting Olivia Hayes' game-winning goal against Winona. Shoemaker now has 10 goals in her 20 career matches at Truman, while Hayes logged her 23rd career goal and raised her all-time points mark to 58, tying Anna Sonderman's ninth-place mark in the Truman history books.

Mike Cannon is in his 20th season at the controls of the Bulldog women's soccer program and has a career record of 254-91-37. His 254 wins ranks seventh all-time in Div. II history, and his teams have won 10 or more matches in 17 straight seasons.
