KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - A goal in the 57th minute by visiting Bellarmine proved to be the only scoring of the afternoon, as the 20th-ranked Truman women's soccer team saw its 12-match unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 loss on Friday.

The Bulldogs (9-2-3, 8-1-2 GLVC) dominated the run of play early on, putting four shots on goal with a pair of corner kicks in the first 13 minutes, but the Knights (8-4-2, 7-3-1 GLVC) held off the early flurry to keep the match scoreless. Truman eventually carried an 8-4 edge in total shots into the intermission, including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

The start of the second half traded tales, as it was Bellarmine that came out with the momentum from the intermission. Unlike Truman, however, the Knights broke the 0-0 knot with a shot by Lauren Holder into the bottom left corner of the goal in the 57th minute. The goal was Holder's third of the season and snapped a 492-minute scoreless streak by the Bulldog defense and keeper Emily Bozdeck.

Truman had a pair of solid chances in the waning minutes, including a header by Megan Whitehead that was punched over the bar in the 73rd minute, but the Bulldogs couldn't convert and suffered their first conference loss as a member of the GLVC.

Trisha Shoemaker led the Bulldogs with four total shots, while both Whitehead and Suzanne Pelley each added three shots of their own. Truman out-shot BU 13-12 for the match, including 7-5 on goal, but surrendered seven corner kicks to just five for themselves.

Truman returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 20) to celebrate Senior Day with a noon kickoff against McKendree. The Bearcats entered the weekend with a 5-3-5 overall record (3-2-5 GLVC) and play at nationally-ranked Quincy on Friday night before visiting Kirksville.
