EVANSVILLE, Ind. - - An unassisted goal in the 12th minute stood up for the host Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles, as the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs were upset 1-0 in a weekend-opening road contest on Friday night.

USI (9-5-1, 7-5-1 GLVC) used a goal by Maura Hulme in the early minutes and held on, as the Bulldogs (10-3-3, 9-2-2 GLVC) out-shot the Eagles 10-4 overall and 5-2 on net in the match. Truman also picked up five corner kicks and blanked USI as well, but the Bulldogs could not find the equalizer on the road pitch and were held scoreless for just the fourth time this season.

Melanie Hunt led all players by taking three shots, while Emily Bozdeck posted one save in net.

The Bulldogs fell a full two games behind league-leading Quincy in the race for the GLVC title with two to play in the regular season but did remain one game up on UW-Parkside to maintain their hold on second place. Truman next travels to Illinois Springfield (3-13, 1-12 GLVC) on Sunday, Oct. 27, for a noon start.
