KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Sophomore Megan Frkovic slammed home a rebound opportunity in the 73rd minute, giving the 20th-ranked Truman women's soccer team all it would need offensively in a 1-0 victory against Rockhurst on Friday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (7-1-2, 6-0-1 GLVC) applied pressure on the Rockhurst (6-1-2, 4-1-2 GLVC) all afternoon, outshooting the Hawks 16-4 overall and 9-1 on net. Eventually, that persistence paid off, as during a flurry of activity in front of the Hawk goal, Frokovic corralled a loose ball and fired a shot off the left post. The rebound, however, bounced right back at her, and the second chance found the goal to break a scoreless draw.

Truman earned eight corner kicks on the afternoon and kept RU keeper Ali Wallner busy with an eight-save day. Meanwhile, the Bulldog defense held the Hawks in check, as senior keeper Emily Bozdeck needed to make just one save on the afternoon for her sixth shutout of the 2013 campaign.

Sophomore Alexis Heffernan led all players with four shots, while Frkovic added three in 35 minutes off the bench.

The Bulldogs return to the field on Sunday at noon to face William Jewell. The Cardinals enter a Friday night contest at Quincy with a 5-3-1 overall mark, 3-2-1 in the GLVC.
