KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Junior Nick Franta scored twice and added an assist, helping guide the Truman men's soccer team to a 3-1 home win against William Jewell on Sunday afternoon.
 
Franta found pay-dirt for the first time in the game's 14th minute, taking a blast from 30 yards out that slipped through the hands of WJC (4-7, 2-6 GLVC) keeper Shane Van Hooser for a 1-0 Bulldog lead.

Senior Dylan Carter then added to Truman's (6-3-1, 4-3-1 GLVC) lead in the 38th minute, taking a pass from Franta and converting off the right post to send the Bulldogs into the intermission ahead 2-0.
 
After WJC scored in the 72nd to draw within one, Franta came through again, finishing a pass from sophomore Nick Tolmais for his fifth goal of the season and an insurance tally en route to a 3-1 win.
 
Truman out-shot William Jewell 24-11 on the day, including a 14-4 edge in shots on goal. The Bulldogs also earned eight corner kicks to just two for the Cardinals, with keeper Drew Garrone making three saves during his 90 minutes in net.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, Oct. 11, with a key road contest at in-state and long-time rival Missouri S&T (5-4-1, 4-3-1 GLVC) in Rolla. Kickoff is set for 7:30 pm.
