Saints Stun Bulldogs in Friday Four-Setter

ST. LOUIS - - Allie Brak became just the ninth player in Truman volleyball history to post a 20-20 match, but the 23rd-ranked Truman volleyball team was stunned in four sets by host Maryville (Mo.) University on Friday night.

The Bulldogs (20-10, 13-4 GLVC) never got on track against the Saints (9-23, 2-15 GLVC), fighting to a 1-1 draw through two sets before seeing Maryville close out sets three and four to hand Truman its fourth conference loss.

Brak finished the night with career-highs in both kills (28) and digs (21), while also hitting .253, but the rest of the Truman offense combined for just 24 kills and an .047 hitting percentage against a Saints squad that out-dug the purple and white 106-90. Kassi Schroeder recorded seven kills, and Ali Patterson added six for the Bulldog attack.

Meanwhile, Abby Moser notched her fifth career 30-dig night by hitting 30 on the dot to lead four Bulldogs in double-figures. Meghan Zimmerman added a 40-assist, 10-dig double-double out of the setter spot.

Coupled with GLVC-West division leading Rockhurst's loss at Missouri S&T on Friday night, the Bulldogs remain one game back heading into the regular season finale on Saturday at Missouri-St. Louis. The Tritons dispatched Quincy in three sets on Friday evening. Match time is at 1:00 pm on the UMSL campus.
