ST. LOUIS - - Powered by a season-high 17 blocks, the 23rd-ranked Truman volleyball team capped the regular season with a 3-2 victory at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (21-10, 14-4 GLVC) punched their ticket as the No. 2 seed from the West division for next weekend's Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament and will face the No. 3 seed from the East division - Southern Indiana - at 5:00 pm on Friday, Nov. 22 on the Lewis (Ill.) campus in first-round action.

For the second time this season, Truman and UMSL (17-14, 10-8 GLVC) slugged out a defensive battle on the court, as the squads hit just .146 (Truman) and .131 (UMSL) for the match. The Bulldogs appeared poised to sweep the Tritons once again after picking up a 3-0 win in Kirksville in early October, jumping ahead 2-0 on Saturday with a 25-23 first set come-from-behind win before backing it up with a 25-21 win in set two.

The Tritons fought back, however, taking a close third set by two points before drubbing the 'Dogs 25-14 in the fourth after jumping out to an early lead.

UMSL then led 2-1 in the fifth set before the Bulldogs hit the gas - taking seven straight to build an 8-2 lead before nailing home the final dagger with a final 6-0 outburst to eventually take the set 15-4.

Sophomore middle Ali Patterson posted a match-high 20.5 points behind 14 kills, a career-high nine block assists, and a pair of aces, while the Bulldogs' two outside hitters - Heather Hargadine and Allie Brak - each put up 14.5 points apiece behind 13 kills and three block assists. Both Abby Heise and Bailey O'Drobinak also set new career-bests at the net, with Heise recording nine block assists and O'Drobinak adding eight block assists.

Meghan Zimmerman logged a 43-assist, 16-dig double-double, while Abby Moser led four 'Dogs in double-figure digs with a team-high 19. Hargadine and Brak also notched double-doubles on the afternoon, with the former digging 14 UMSL attempts and the latter picking up 11 digs.

Truman's upcoming match against USI will be the third of four scheduled GLVC quarterfinal matches on Friday, Nov. 22, as Indianapolis (2E) and Missouri S&T (3W) open play at noon, followed by Rockhurst (1W) and Bellarmine (4E) at 2:30 pm. Truman and USI will battle at 5:00 pm, followed by weekend-host Lewis (1E) and UMSL (4W) squaring off at 7:30 pm.
