KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - - Four Bulldogs finished with double-figure kills, but a dominant blocking effort by visiting Southern Indiana propelled the Screaming Eagles to a 3-1 upset of #20 Truman volleyball on Saturday night in Pershing Arena.

The Bulldogs (17-8, 10-2 GLVC) struggled with the Eagles' (19-6, 10-2 GLVC) play at the net all night, as Truman hit just .115 for the match - and never better than .220 in an individual set - to fall victim in four sets at home. Truman won the first set 25-22 after scoring six of the final eight points; however, USI rebounded in the second by taking six of the final nine for a 25-20 score.

The third set was tight once again, as the teams played to a 15-15 draw, before USI scored three straight to take an 18-15 lead. Despite the Bulldogs pulling to within one on two occasions, USI held off Truman and took a 25-22 decision.

Then, after Truman scored the first point of the fourth set, USI built leads of 6-1, 9-3, and 12-5, and never let the Bulldogs draw even once again to earn a 25-20 fourth set and match win.

Four Bulldogs scored in double-figures in points, led by a 15 point night by Abby Heise (12 kills, two aces, two block assists). Ali Patter added 14.5 points (12 kills, five block assists), and Jessye Maurer added 12.5 points of her own (12 kills, one block assist). Meghan Zimmerman recorded a double-double with 37 assists and career-high 19 digs, while Abby Moser added 15 digs, and Heather Hargadine chipped in 11 more.

For USI, Abbey Winter led the way with 13 kills and hit .393, while Kayla Heldman dug 32 Bulldog attacks.

The Bulldogs face a quick turnaround, battling Bellarmine (Ky.) on Senior Day with a 1:00 pm Sunday afternoon start. The Knights moved to 13-9 overall (7-5 GLVC) with a 3-1 win at Quincy on Saturday night.
