'Dogs Hold On For 23-21 Victory Over Benedictine (Kan.)

Results

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman Wrestling had to hold off a pesky Benedictine (Kan.) College squad to remain perfect on the dual season as the Bulldogs won 23-21 on Monday night in Pershing Arena. Truman will next face William Penn (Iowa) on Thursday, December 5 at home.

The Ravens jumped out on top after C.J. Ikenberry edged out a 6-5 decision over Rafael Lopez at 133 but watched the Bulldogs reel off five straight wins to take a commanding 23-3 lead.

Andrew Still and Devon Fenstermaker won by major decision and Chase Wrisinger took the 174 bout by fall before the Ravens mounted their comeback.

Ethan Jirak defeated Ryan Ward 9-6 at 184 followed by a pinfall win by Stephen Loosbeck over Helmut Rentschler at 197. Rentschler trailed in the match by a point, looking for a near fall in the final period but after unsuccessfully attempting to put Loosbrock on his back, the Ravens grappler reversed an exhausted Rentschler to upset the Bulldog with the pin at the 6:41 mark.

Josh Wilson closed the gap to five with a pin fall win at 285 over Ben Dudley in the third period.

The match hinged on the 125 bout as the Ravens needed a fall victory to clip the 'Dogs. Jabez Zinabu was able to hold off the pin but dropped a 2-1 sudden victory to Ben Randolph in the finale.

Truman improves to 3-0 in dual matches this season.
