Greyhounds Top Bulldogs in GLVC Battle

INDIANAPOLIS - - Allie Brak topped the 20-kill mark for the second consecutive match, and Abby Heise set a new career-high with 20 kills of her own, but the Truman volleyball team came up just short in a five-set loss at the University of Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (18-9, 11-3 GLVC) and Greyhounds (17-9, 11-3 GLVC) traded the first two sets before UIndy snuck away with the fifth frame by a 15-13 score to hand the Bulldogs their fourth loss in six matches.

Truman hit .226 for the match but struggled to maintain Uindy's attack, as the host 'Hounds hit a collective .296 with 11 extra kills on the afternoon. The Bulldogs' primary source of offense came off the arms of three players, as Brak led the team with 21 kills with a .203 hitting mark. Heise hit .487 with 20 kills and just one error on 39 attempts, while Ali Patterson chipped in 13 kills on a .289 hitting line. Patterson and Heise also combined for four of the team's seven total blocks on the match.

Meghan Zimmerman picked up a double-double with 58 assists and 16 digs, while Abby Moser logged a season-high 32 digs on the back line for her program all-time high fourth career 30+ dig match. Heather Hargadine added 18 digsand four assists for a Truman squad that sided-out at a 57 percent clip.

Brittany Anglemeyer recorded 22 kills for Uindy, while Kenzie Bruggeman added 17 kills and 26 digs. Meghan Binkerd set a double-double of her own with 64 assists and 16 digs.

The Bulldogs, now a game back in the GLVC West division behind Rockhurst (12-2 GLVC), travels to Saint Joseph's (11-17, 4-10 GLVC) on Sunday for a 1:00 pm first serve. The Pumas lost in four sets at home to Quincy on Saturday night.
