Truman Ends Dual Season With Loss At McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. – The Bulldogs top three wrestlers turned in victories on Friday night but the McKendree (Ill.) Bearcats would take the other seven matches to defeat Truman 32-10 in the season dual finale. The Bulldogs will compete at the NCAA Regional tournament next weekend.
 
Truman fell behind 9-0 as McKendree used a major decision and tech fall wins in the first two matches before the Bulldogs mounted a comeback.
 
Alex Maus edged out Steven Bradtmueller 2-1 at 141 and Ryan Maus won by major over Devin Patterson at 149.
 
Colton Schmitz put Truman ahead momentarily with an 8-3 decision at 157 over Francisco Ruiz. However, McKendree's Nick Haferkamp got a first period fall over Dustin McClintock in the next match to regain the lead for the Bearcats.
 
McKendree would win the next four matches, the final by forfeit to move to 6-8 in dual action while the Bulldogs final dual record of the year evens at six apiece.
 
The Bulldogs will compete in the NCAA Regional next weekend in Ashland, Ohio. The top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance on to the NCAA Division II meet in Birmingham, Ala. on March 8-9.
