Bats Come Alive In Sweep Of Blue Tigers

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Truman offense found their groove and the Bulldog Baseball team hit .397 in a doubleheader conference sweep of Lincoln (Mo.) University on Thursday afternoon. Truman rallied with 13 runs in the final two innings to win the opener 17-7 and got a strong pitching performance from Tim Lee to take the nightcap 8-1. The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday at Missouri Southern.
 
Paul Trenhaile continued his offensive explosion with two home runs and seven RBIs in the games while Blake Marino was three of five with a double, triple and hit by four pitches.

The Blue Tigers hit a pair of two-run home runs and led 7-4 after five in the seven inning game but the Bulldogs responded with 13 runs in their final two at bats to win 17-7.

Truman got 10 of their 17 hits during those innings with Trenhaile's two-out three-run home run in the sixth breaking the seven all tie.

In the seventh, Marino led off with a triple  and was the 10th batter in the inning when he followed with an RBI double. Chris Zrostlik had a two-run double during the barrage.

Mark Roberts picked up the win tossing six innings and struck out five Blue Tigers.

Tim Lee worked induced a bases loaded ground ball double play to get out of the bottom of the first and the Bulldogs responded with three runs in the top of the second en route to the 8-1 win.

Jordan Howe had an RBI double and Mike Monfre followed with an RBI single as Truman kept rolling in the second game.

Trenhaile would make it 5-0 with his second home run of the day and Corbin Williams cleared the bases with a three-run double in the sixth inning.

Lee pitched eight innings and struck out nine while allowing just six hits, just two after the second inning.
