BOLIVAR, Mo.  - - Kelsey Bollman and Cate Simon provided RBIs in game one, while Kirsten Krause and Kindra Henze combined for a run-rule one-hitter to supplement four Bulldog home runs in game two, as the Truman softball team picked up a doubleheader sweep of Southwest Baptist following a 13-day layoff.

The Bulldogs (9-3) got on the board in the second inning of game one when Bollman drove in Simon with an RBI single. Then, in the fifth, Simon brought home two (one RBI) with a single to put Truman on top 3-0. SBU (4-12) would score two in the home half of the sixth, but Hannah Washburn logged her fifth win of 2013 with a complete game, two-run outing in the circle.

Then, in the nightcap, the Bulldogs pounced all over the Bearcats from the outset, scoring two in the first, five in the second, and two more in the third to pound out a 9-0 lead through three innings. The eventual 10 runs and 10 hits for the Bulldog offense would be more than necessary for Krause (2-0) and Henze, who gave up just one hit and struck out five combined. The Bulldogs belted four home runs in the run-rule shortened five-inning game, as Bollman, Liz Leath, Kristin Grossman and Whitney Richardson all took Bearcat pitching out of the yard. Leath led all players with three RBI, while Bollman and Grossman added two RBI each.

With Saturday's doubleheader not counting towards MIAA standings, the Bulldogs are set to open league play this Wednesday (March 13) afternoon with a twinbill at Lindenwood (Mo.) in St. Charles, Mo., at 2:00 pm.
